Happy 2013 everyone.
Noon 1st January 2013: Town Beach Block Island
The Polar Plunge
All three of my granddaughters joined about a hundred others to run into the water … Congratulations…

About 100 into the water, twice as many on the beach to watch.
And this was after staying up to watch the New Year come in – thanks for the hospitality I have received both yesterday and today. I am writing this stuffed with good food of all kinds.

Amazing ! Happy new year everyone. Love irene
Thought you might like it. Hope you are having an equally good time. xxx
I just finished watching Polar Plunges from across Canada, most were held where a hole was cut in the ice. To be truthful whether ice and snow is involved or just frigid water the jolt has to be the same. I would imagine seeing the cringes and hearing the howling first hand is entertaining.
I would think the Canadian plunges must be more authentically polar. Here it is yet another excuse for a small community to have an outing in winter – needless to say there were a couple of venues for post-polar soup/drinks/more food when the hardy souls had finished having their hot showers. A good way to spend a New Year Day.
