Year of the Rooster

Chinese New Year has been and gone, and from next week I will be spending the rooster year elsewhere, with memories. Louis had his first painting class of this year this evening, so here is the rooster he painted. It is hard to believe he is only 9 years old, his talent is truly amazing, and he enjoys it so much too! [copy of a famous chinese painting, he is studying technique now].img_0347

大吉大利  da ji da li means good luck and great prosperity.

辛意家 Xin Yi jia is Louis’ chinese name, Xin Yi, artist. [the jia in the painting is traditional character, not simplified]

  1. WOW !!!!!!!!!!

    And wow again.

What a talented little boy he is.

My lovely Mum would have been thrilled to see this. Her own work included several copies of Old Masters which are incredible. She always said that to be able to copy well was much harder than most of us think – studying how the paint was applied, the artists’ brushwork, the particular hues of colour used, understanding another’s mind set and the inspiration behind every picture.

Louis will go far in this field and probably other fields too. Most majorly talented people have more than the one gift. He will have that rare luxury of choice in deciding what area he wants to pursue. Lucky guy !!

    And only nine years old.

    Wow, wow, wow.

    Thank you for sharing.

    Best love,

    Angela.
